ISKCON’s ultimate managing authority is the Governing Body Commission (GBC), established by Srila Prabhupada before his departure.

The GBC is responsible for preserving and carrying out Srila Prabhupada’s instructions and ensuring that spiritual standards and activities are maintained in ISKCON centers worldwide. It meets annually in Mayapur, West Bengal, and oversees temple presidents, regional bodies, and ministries that support devotional life, education, and community outreach.

Local temple leadership, including presidents and service volunteers at ISKCON Durham, work in alignment with the GBC to nurture spiritual growth and serve the community lovingly and faithfully.
